Albin Tops Irish as Play Concludes in Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Play concluded on Sunday with the third and final round of the Georgia State Maui Jim Invitational at the par-71 Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the Notre Dame men's golf team finished the event in 14th place out of 16 competing schools.

Notre Dame shot a 298 (+14) on Sunday, giving the Irish a team score of 877 over the weekend's 54 holes as the team posted tallies of 288 and 291 on Friday and Saturday, respectively. LSU won the event with an 811, followed by Baylor (816) and Kent State (828).

Players of the Day

Ben Albin birdied five holes during his even-par 71 which paced all scoring Irish players on Sunday and helped him top the team for the three-round tournament with his three-over-par 216 (72-73-71), four strokes ahead of his closest scoring teammates.

Competing as an individual, Davis Lamb also carded a 71 on Sunday and produced the best 54-hole score for Notre Dame in Scottsdale with a 212 (73-68-71) to finish at one-under-par and in a tie for 23rd overall. Lamb's final round also saw him record a quintet of birdies and shoot par-or-better on 15 out of 18 holes.

Up Next

The Irish have this upcoming weekend off in preparation for their major annual home event. The Fighting Irish Golf Classic will be contested with 18 holes per day from Oct. 9-11 at the Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame, Indiana.
